Bar Victor is back.
The Montrose bar and lounge at 4321 Montrose Blvd., which closed last year, will open May 22 at 25% capacity and with a new owner and management. The new owner is an unnamed individual, a representative said.
“We have maintained the aspects that people loved since its opening in April of 2018, but we want to cultivate and reintroduce the spaces as being more amenable to comfortable sipping and conversation and great music without turning into an all-out club atmosphere. We will introduce this refashioning while maintaining limited hours, social distancing and safety practices in accordance with local and statewide measures for the health of our guests and staff,” said general manager Lindsey Norwood.
The space was lightly updated with new lighting and other elements, including a new bar menu. Two or three semi-private salons fill up the space, sitting four to eight customers each. There’s also a private event space for 20 customers. Joshua Weisman of Houston-based Construction Concepts did the interior design, including placing back custom bar cabinetry that was in the space when Steve Zimmerman from Zimmerman Properties owned the venue.
“We want Bar Victor to be a classy, relaxing den to come for happy hour or for before or after dinner gatherings and a place you can continue socializing at your leisure until late into the evening whether inside or on our patio,” Norwood said.
There will be a dress code after 8 p.m. — no shorts, sandals, flipflops or caps.
The new bar menu includes a champagne service, import and domestic beer, and wine and cocktails. Cocktails include the My Fair Lady, with elderflower liqueur and bitter orange, and the Purple Rain, with Wild Root’s Pear Vodka, Bitter Truth Golden Falernum and fresh citrus and pineapple, topped with Empress 19008 gin. Soon, customers will be able to order food from neighboring restaurants.
Bar Victor will be open Thursday through Sunday, 4 p.m. to 2 a.m. or until close.
