Pending final approvals, the restaurant should open at the beginning of December. When it does, the new Sticky’s will serve as a permanent home to for the signature wings, sticks (chicken over french fries), and chicken and rice plates that earned wide acclaim on the food truck.
Brother-and-sister duo Patsy and Benson Vivares launched Sticky’s Chicken in 2014. The truck’s signature sauce — a secret family recipe developed by their father that’s sweet, spicy, and smoky — quickly drew an enthusiastic following.
Having a full-size kitchen will allow Sticky’s to expand its menu with dishes like a chicken sandwich. The Vivares worked with a chef consultant from California to add new varieties of chicken and rice, such as a Japanese-inspired fried chicken katsu. In addition to feeding the dining room, the kitchen will also provide enough room for catering and to-go.
Vivares says that she and her brother chose Sawyer Yards for its centralized location. Since signing the lease, they’ve been thrilled to see a number of new openings, including Poitín and Buffalo Bayou Brewing Company, as well as upcoming concepts like Dumpling Haus and Urban South Brewery.
